Dancing Alone Again

Dancing Alone Again  by LUCKYANDLOVE

Every day is like Sunday…
…but it’s actually Friday night
…in the city.
So much going on…
…Hey I’m excited! So come on!

You just want to stay home again,
tonight…

I just want to be your China Girl.
Party like it’s 99…
but I am dancing with myself again on a Friday night
I just want to be your China Girl…
…like it’s 99

…but I am dancing with my self again
…on a Friday night

Every day is like Sunday in my head…
…but it’s Friday night
So come on!

It’s Friday night
You are staying in again…

I don’t want to pretend
I just want to dance!
just want to dance!
I just want to dance!
So come on!

I just want to be your China Girl
just want to be your China Girl
I just want to be your China Girl
Party like it’s 99…
but I’m dancing with my self again on a Friday
I just want to be your China Girl
Party like it’s 99…
but I’m dancing alone again on a Friday night

Come on a dance with me!
Come on a dance with me!
Come on a dance with me!

It will be alright
It will be alright
It will be alright
It will be alright
So come on!

drop it like it’s hot
drop it like it’s hot
just drop it like it’s hot!

Dancing Alone Again because we are certainly missing dancing and these lyrics were released in 2019! So apropos even now!

We were certainly dancing alone again in the slow glowy streets of China Town when we recently made multiple visits via private appointments to emerse ourselves in the emensely beautiful art installation called “The Beauty War,” (by Scott Hove, Cakeland.la) in China Town, DTLA. Enough said, just go while it's still up and treat yourself to an incredible art surprise!  The spiky sexy scarey teeth heels in the art installation was a brutal reminder of how much we miss dancing.

The track Dancing Alone Again was repeating in our heads and it's even more spooky mixed with a longing to dance in a big crowded dance floor to songs by Billy Idol, David Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure etc. It's never so real as now because the party shoe still fits! We were celebrating Loren's birthday, a quiet yet beautifully bitter sweet stomp around the area, with neon glowing brightly despite the recent pandemic driven fear to "party like it's 99". You'd think every day was like Sunday and our souls were missing all the same hits blasting on a Friday night over at Club Underground, or the Grand Star Jazz Club and tears welled up seeing a boarded up 75 year old Hop Louie on Mei Ling Way. That is because this was in this somber moment, we appreciated the fragility that special places hold, reflecting on the amazing memories of  dancing, tasting delicious food, placing a business card under our table glass, laughing at couples getting kicked out of the joint for bad behavior etc.

We have all new songs to share with you sometime soon. In the mean time we have developed a 90 minute performance as we've been practicing old and new non-stop for a year now. We got a chance to dance a bit at a place called Bart last weekend in Palm Springs for Alma's birthday. You may recall we had been booked there back in October with Luna Negra night and it was canceled but the place is super fun!
